The RYA Exam for Sail is an intensive 2 day practical test of the candidates competency.  Candidates will be assessed by an independent RYA Examiner.  A commanding knowledge of boat handling, passage making, collision regulations, meteorology, navigation and boat safety is expected.

Candidates are responsible for providing documentation confirming that they have met the requirements necessary in order to be eligible for the exam.

RYA Industry Exam Prep (for Sail):

Many yachting industry professionals possess enough mileage to qualify for the RYA Yachtmaster exam.  However, miles do not always mean that the exam candidate has had the requisite amount of time to develop their sailing skills.  This extended version of our normal exam prep should provide enough training time to reaquire those skills.  The course will also provide a 60nm passage from Cape Town to Saldanha for those that may be lacking this passage making requirement.
